How do I reserve housing for the next school year? Answer: a signed lease, filled out application form and full deposit will secure your housing for the next academic year.
How much is a deposit? Answer: The deposit is equal to the amount you pay on your monthly rent. Having said that, the deposit is not a substitute for your first month's rent. It is a true deposit.
How do I receive my deposit back? Answer: When the lease is complete and you have removed all your items, within 30 days you will receive your deposit. It will be mailed to your permanent address. The home or apartment you rented must be returned to the condition it was when you moved in. If not, the deposit will be used to repair and/or clean the home for the new students moving in.
When is rent due? Answer: Rent is due in the middle of the month. It runs from the 15th of the first month to the 14th of the next (for example June 15 to July 14; July 15 to August 13, etc). The reason is that graduation and the spring semester conclude in the middle of May.
When does the lease starts? Answer: Except in unusual cases, the lease starts May 20. The reason that it does not start on the 15th of the May is so that we have five days to clean and prepare the home/apartment for new students moving in.
How do I get out of my lease? Answer: The lease is a legal document. You can get out of your lease by having someone take your place on the lease. The other students on the lease must agree to the arrangement and the person filling your slot on the lease.
Are there late fees? Answer: There is a five day grace period. While rent is due on the 15th, no late fees are charged to rent postmarked by the 20th. After the 20th, there is a five dollar a day fee for each day rent is tardy.
